There’s nothing like July 4th in the nation’s capital. Parades, music, food, and fireworks can all be found along the streets of Washington D.C. on America’s birthday. We also spotted a few Catholic U. students all over the city exploring fun activities the district has to offer!
In the morning, thousands of spectators gathered along Constitution Avenue for the traditional Independence Day Parade. Rain couldn’t stop Meghan and her friends from gathering around the monuments to watch the parade and picnic on the National Mall.
Next stop was the Lincoln Memorial where the Military Parade began. Sitting along the Mall, spectators watched as every branch was represented.
Time for a BBQ break! While Mack headed over to the Ballpark for a traditional hot dog and day of baseball, Mitchell spent the day with friends and family having an outdoor bar-b-que enjoying all the classic holiday dishes.
Finally, as it started to cool off, Caroline and Nico headed downtown for the airshow and fireworks. Sitting anywhere along the Mall, or even the steps of the Capitol, you could see the amazing display of fireworks over the city.
No matter where you were in the city, the feeling of patriotism and community exuded from the thousands of spectators and participants in the day’s activities. Thanks for following our days in the Nation’s Capital, hopefully someday it will be YOU exploring the parades, and watching the night sky light up over the monuments!
