During the school year, staying caffeinated is a necessity. Fortunately for us, we have three Starbucks within walking distance. One is conveniently located right in our Pryzbyla Student Center and we have two more just outside campus! But this summer, we decided to expand our coffee palettes and find the best coffee shops D.C. has to offer. Here are our top five picks:
Located right around the corner from Union Station, Ebenezers, is a popular spot for students looking to enjoy time on Capitol Hill. On a sunny day you can sit outside on their brick patio and for chilly days they have plenty of tables downstairs to sip a latte and watch the news or catch up on some studying. Their seasonal lattes are always a must!
Located near the Farragut North metro stop, Gregory’s is a must-try for coffee lovers. Their menu includes amazing drip coffee, smoothies, fresh squeezed lemonade, and even activated charcoal milk. We highly recommend any coffee with the spicy avocado toast!
3. Compass Coffee
Fortunately for us, Compass Coffee has several locations all around D.C. Their fantastic coffee is accompanied by a cozy coffeehouse aesthetic. In some of the locations you can watch how their coffee is brewed. These locations have plenty of table space to bring homework or just a good book.
4. Dean and DeLuca
If you ever find yourself wondering around Georgetown in need of a caffeine boost, stop into Dean and DeLuca. Not only can you find great coffee, they also have plenty of yummy treats to grab for an afternoon snack!
5. Open City Diner
Our last pick is a bit outside the bustling streets of D.C. Located in Woodley Park, Open City Diner and a great stop for breakfast. If you’re on the go, they also have a great coffee bar to order an espresso and bagel to go!
