Campus Ministry: Something for Everyone

One of the unique things Catholic University has to offer is an incredibly active Campus Ministry office. As a whole, Campus Ministry handles a variety of different events like weekly service projects, retreats, and bible studies for those interested. Service opportunities range from helping feed the homeless to helping tutor local youth. Service opportunities like these help build relationships with fellow student volunteers as well as those in our University’s surrounding communities in D.C, Maryland, and Virginia. These encounters can give students a greater understanding of the area that they call home for four years and beyond.

One of the best events Campus Ministry hosts is Freshman Retreat at the start of each fall semester. This retreat, and others like it later in the year, focus on forming a community in faith among peers. Freshman Retreat is held at a nearby camp, so students are able to get away from campus for a weekend to focus on building relationships and take a step back from daily life.

Campus Ministry assigns each residence hall a few student Resident Ministers who bring the benefits of Campus Ministry right to your room! RMs host nightly prayers and mass in Caldwell Hall every week. They thrive at forging personal relationships, relieving worries, and bringing the fun. The ministers for Flather Hall host game nights throughout the week to help students relax!

Every Friday night, the House Ministers will put on an event for the entire student body. Some campus favorites are Metro Madness, an annual D.C. scavenger hunt, and the Homecoming Charity Ball. This Friday, there will be a campus wide game of Capture the Flag! At the end of the year, the entire campus community comes together with Campus Ministry to celebrate Cardinal-Palooza on the last day of classes. Campus Ministry hosts a huge celebration with fireworks, live music, tons of food, carnival rides, and prizes.

Campus Ministry, here at Catholic University, serves as a bridge for students to connect with each other and the entire D.C. area. To learn more about how they connect our campus, visit https://ministry.catholic.edu/.
