Pop-Up Pictures

Hi everyone! Noelia here bringing you another one of the coolest reasons to love D.C.!

Living in D.C., there are many opportunities for great jobs and internships, but also for cool experiences outside of academics. The District is home to many incredible spots for movie lovers who want an escape from the stress of everyday life.

One of the coolest spots in D.C. for cinema is actually the closest movie theater to campus: Angelika Pop-Up. The Angelika Pop-Up is just two metro stops away and is located in Union Market, making it a very fun location for students to not only watch a movie but get some delicious food afterwards. This theater was originally created in the New York City neighborhood SoHo. According to their website the Angelika Pop-Up is now “one of the most well-known and highest-grossing dedicated arthouses in the US.”

I recently went to the charming Angelika Pop-Up to watch 1917. The theater is known for showing critically acclaimed films, classic films, and fan favorites. Angelika Pop-Up is currently showing Martin Scorsese’s classic film Taxi Driver and recently-released film, The Lodge, by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. Later in the month the theater will be showing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Needless to say, the theater has a diverse range of film screenings.

These theaters are exclusively located in: New York, New York; Fairfax, Virginia; Dallas, Texas; Plano, Texas; San Diego California; and, of course, Washington, D.C., so we’re lucky to have one so close by!

Stay cool!
