Commuter Check List

Being a commuter student may seem intimidating at first, but once you have all these boxes checked, becoming a Cardinal Commuter will be so easy.

  1. Spare change. DC can be a tricky place when looking for parking. For that reason, always have at least a dollar’s worth of quarters in your wallet or book bag. No matter if you are taking the metro or your car, extra quarters or loose dollars always come in handy.
  2. Snacks, Snacks, Snacks!!!! Coming from a person that loves food, snacks are always important for a busy commuter student. From chewing gum on the metro to wake me up for my 10 am class or an apple to get me through the half-day slump, snacks are those important things that can get you out of any situation without being hangry.
  3. Small, portable umbrella. D.C. can be interesting when it comes to its weather. One hour it can be bright and sunny and the next, rain and thunder. For many students, they can just grab their umbrellas from their dorm room. As a commuter, you can never be too prepared for the unpredictable weather that DC has to offer.
  4. Parking Spots.  If you’re looking to park your car or bike off campus, finding a spot can be difficult. For that reason, I recommend purchasing a parking permit at the parking and transportation offices on campus. Once you have your permit there are many spots available throughout campus.

I hope these tips help you become a well-prepared Cardinal Commuter! See you on campus!
